Pubs and Clubbin in Cyprus
For those visiting Cyprus who like their holidays looking for vibrant and buzzing bars and clubs will not be disappointed with the choices available. The tourist areas of Paphos, Ayia Napa and Limassol have the highest amount of bars, many of them catering to the British, and offering a large range of local and International drinks with various forms of entertainment. The majority of bars throughout Cyprus are open all day, through to 2am, and provide cooked food, whilst some aim more towards the 'singles' late night trade.
Entertainment is mainly geared around karaoke nights, live bands, quiz nights and family fun amusement, but some offer the more adult themed attractions. Bars tend to be multi-cultural, with a mixture of Cypriots and foreigners, and generally provide a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
For those who prefer clubbing, there are many disco's throughout the island, most of which are situated in the tourist areas. You will find good clubbing music provided by top local and International DJ's and MC's. You can unearth many different styles that focus on themed music nights from the 'holiday' fun music scene, covering 60's 70's, 80'& 90's, through to modern R&B, Dance, Trance, Greek, Russian etc covering all tastes. Most clubs will charge an admission fee at the door and drinks tend to be more expensive in clubs than in bars.
You have to be aged 18 or over to get in to bars and clubs in Cyprus, and you should carry some ID with you if you think you look younger!! Bars are free to enter but, guy's usually have to pay to get into some of the clubs, whereas girls often get in for free, but go to the bar and club PR'first for any special offer tickets!
Taxis are always around, should you require, and for your safety make sure it is a marked licensed Taxi, Cyprus does not have unmarked minicabs!
It should be noted that as of 1st January 2010, smoking is prohibited in all indoor public areas.
